Measuring the quality and effectiveness of protected and conserved areas

The Caribbean PA Gateway attended an international workshop titled ‘Measuring the quality and effectiveness of protected and conserved areas - Expert meeting for the development of possible indicators and methods for reporting’ held February 2-6, 2020 on the Isle of Vilm, Germany. The primary objective of the workshop was to examine the elements of a potential post-2020 global biodiversity framework that considers the quality of protected and conserved areas (i.e. as opposed to the extent) and considers how these elements could be expressed as measurable targets.
